Grip, along with Fang and Wolf, was a large wolf-like dog kept by Farmer Maggot on his farm in the Marish.

He was a typically ferocious dog, but when one of the Ringwraiths approached, asking for 'Baggins', the dog quailed and drew back, yelping in terror.
