The Nen Lalaith ('laughing stream') was said to have given its name to Lalaith daughter of Húrin. She died of plague when she was three years old.

The stream began under Amon Darthir in the Ered Wethrin, flowed north-west out onto the plains of Dor-lómin, and then flowed past the house of Húrin.
