Niphredil was a flower growing in Lothlórien atop Cerin Amroth, where among the stalks of elanor grew the white and palest green flowers of niphredil, on slender stalks.

Niphredil also grew in the forest of Neldoreth in the lands of Doriath. When Lúthien was born, the white flowers of niphredil came forth to greet her as stars from the earth.

Meanings:
"Niphredil" means "snowdrop." The word "niphred" means "pallor or whiteness."
