The southern lowlands of Mordor, separated from the rest of Mordor by spurs from the Mountains of Shadow - Mordor and Ash Mountains.

Four rivers flowed through Nurn into the inland Sea of Nurnen (sometimes referred to as Lake Nurnen). At the end of the third age the area contained slave-worked fields, probaby growing food for Sauron's troops. After the destruction of the Rings these slaves were freed by Aragorn and given these lands as their own.
