I set out clueless and happy as could be
Blissfully unaware of the suffering that awaits me
The warm sun shines as the emerald grass sways
Little do I know this is the last of my peaceful days

As the dark night falls and come near the river do we
A suspicious unease sets over me
As the shadow comes nearer fear grips my heart
And I fall onto the ferry, my pride beginning to smart

A man called Strider pleas join our quest
I look to my comrades and hope for the best
We shake on it and then the journey has begun
We part ways only when our battle is won

A pain rips through my shoulder fierce
And my reason does the blade pierce
I remember traveling far and wide
On the elf lady’s horse do I ride

I awake in a soft bed, the wizard’s hand on my own
As down the strong sun shone
In a few days a meeting is called
And now our journey hath been painfully stalled

Elves, dwarves, men of all kind have come
To their powerful words I succumb
I and my friends, eight other than me
Leave the Elven haven, finally free

Strong arms wrapped round my chest
As I heave and scream for the wizard, my body stressed
The Fellowship grieves, each in their own way
But by morrow are we to leave, although I say nay

Samwise sits before me, his face red with lack of air
He vows to stay with me, and I can tell he cares
Later we come upon a gangling creature, Gollum they call him
And I pity him, his arms and legs ever so thin

We move closer each day, and my hardship increases
Although week-by-week my heart is torn to pieces
Through the gate into the black lands are we
And we hope not to be seen, our party of three

In Osgiliath a battle rages, tis already lost
Into the afterlife many men have already crossed
The steward snarls at his son and sends him away
Only to return wounded another day

My friends are now soldiers, their fate unknown to me
I stand tough and proud, sending Samwise away though I’d rather weep
He crumbles into a corner and sobs, while I climb up the rock
Behind me the gangling creature continues to talk and talk

I feel so lifeless, lying here in this tower
Surely this is my final hour
A battle cry is heard, and the orcs fall dead
And Samwise with the Ring stands over my head

This life is worth nothing, I feel I shall die
But then again this quest is based on someone’s dirty lie
My finger bleeds, the pain shoots hard
And I fall over the edge, my mind and body scarred

His strong hands take mine, and help me to my feet
While we run from the cave, running to weep
The eagles have us now, in their powerful grasp
And my chest and legs do they clasp

I wake in a bed once more, soft as can be
And now I feel I can finally see
My friends come in one by one
And now I truly see, my task is done

The Ring is destroyed, what is left for me to do
My friends have gone home, but I feel raw yet new
My decision is made, this place I am leaving
And in this empty, raw world am I believing
