Across the Sea

The sea! The sea!
Oh, carry him ore’
From western side
To eastern shore

So long, my love,
Have I stood as stone
As hard as death,
As cold as bone

You haven’t come
From thither shore
Yet still I love you
All the more

Long have I stood,
You have not come
My soaking knees
Washed with the foam

Yet still I cry
In hopeless gain
The lovely days
Are spent in vain

Then night shall come
To end my days
My life shall end
In grayish haze

So now today
No longer the sea
Dose stand between
Both you and me

Today the sea
Did carry me ore’
From eastern side
To western shore

So night is ended
Dark is gone
Here we shall live
In ever dawn
