Alone in a Black Land by Nendae
AUTHOR’S NOTE: This was written when a girl from my school died. I was very confused and depressed and so this might seem a bit dark, but it was very inspired, so I hope you like it. I thought this might have been along the lines that Faramir was thinking.
In Honor Of: Kristi Cutwright (who has passed on), the girl who’s smile lit up our world.
Silence is death’s only friend
And unity; it’s only enemy
Only in death is man awakened
And in life is he put to sleep
I wander this earth
My mind blank and void
Joy is forgotten
Laughter is no longer young
Tears stream bold men’s faces
The ones we thought would not yield to tears
They cover their faces
But we know
A louder silence was never heard
Eyes press against the back of my head
As water springs from my torn eyes
I cover my face
But they know
My father laughs too loudly
He grieves more than anyone
Yet he wanders these halls
His eyes glazed
He has been hit
Like a wall that a brick has been thrown at
We’ve been shattered
Like a piece of glass
I am alone in a black land
With suffocating darkness
I run into the blackness
Gasping for air
But I am denied breath
Instead, I fall
Further into my grief
Closer to my grave
Why do all men weep?
Where does my comfort lie?

Wow, I just have to say that this story is absolutely beautiful. I guess that it took great thought to string the words together in such ways, and I loved it. It made me think and the imagery was perfect.
Wow! Like you said, kinda dark, and yet so powerful & moving. kinda scary & yet so freakishly real. i can imagine Faramir thinking exactly that.
silence – human heart – pure sadness – gorgeous!
