Characters and places that are in LOTR belong to Tolkien, not me. As for the other characters they belong to me.

Chapter one.

Eleneth walked through the woods of Lothlorien singing softly to herself. She loved the Golden Wood, it had been her home for all her life, she actually had never been outside of Lorien.

Then as she walked a guard rushed over to her. “Lindar? What’s wrong?” Eleneth asked.

“This elf needs to speak with you and your family. I trust you will lead him to your home,” Lindar said.

“Of course.” Eleneth said, she looked concerned, something was definitely wrong.

She looked at the elf which she was supposed to take to her family.
He looked to be a Mirkwood Elf, he wore the clothes that they would, with colors of green and leaves embroidered into his clothes.

“What brings you here? What news have you?” Eleneth asked, she began to lead him to her talan. The Mirkwood Elf seemed to be thinking whether he should tell her or not. “You will tell me anyway, so why not just tell me as we walk?” Eleneth said.

The Elf shrugged and opened his mouth to begin talking, but was once again interrupted.

“First tell me your name,” Eleneth said.

“I am Trevadir. This is the news I have for you. A host of Mirkwood elves, including me and your cousin, was out searching for a band of orcs that had been plaguing our people. We stopped and made camp just before dusk. I went out hunting and when I returned I found that all the elves were gone. I saw many footprints that were not made by the elves. They were huge, bigger than any normal orc. Anyway, they were all gone, as if they had all been picked up and carried away, for there was no sign as to what had happened to them. I found only one elf dead and he was not far from the camp,” Trevadir explained.

Eleneth looked at him with wide eyes, she was completely shocked. She could see the sadness on Trevadir’s face. “Do you think the orcs you were hunting got them?” Eleneth asked.

“No, as I said before the footprints were huge, bigger than a normal orc. I believe they were the Uruk Hai that took the elves.” Trevadir said.

“But I thought they were all down in Rohan, under Saruman’s control,” Eleneth said.

“They are not limited to just Rohan my lady. I have seen many traveling up into our lands. I do not know why they came upon us like that, I would think that they would slaughter the elves, but Saruman must want them for something.” Trevadir said.

Then they came to a tree with a silver rope ladder. “Follow me, this is the talan my family live in,” Eleneth said, she began climbing first.

When they reached the top Eleneth was glad to find her whole family up here. “This elf has come with news of our cousin in Mirkwood,” Eleneth explained; she felt like crying. It had finally sunk in that her cousin could be in great trouble, maybe he was dead.

Trevadir explained all that he had told Eleneth to her family. Eleneth’s Mother began to weep, her Father held her. Tuluion, Eleneth’s brother, stood.

“I must go and find him,” Tuluion said determinedly.

“Son, you will have to be wary. We really do not know what caught them. It must have been something very strong to catch elves off guard,” his father said.

Tuluion nodded. “I must go Father; Eriol is like a brother to me. I cannot let him suffer at the hands of those orcs!” Tuluion said angrily.

“I will go with you,” Trevadir said, he stood beside Tuluion.

As the elves spoke about their plans of what to do Eleneth sat quietly.
Eleneth was thinking about the situation, her mind was in a battle. “Don’t go with them, danger lurks everywhere and you have never been away from home… go with them, they will need you to help find Eriol.” Then Eleneth stood.

“I will go with you too,” Eleneth said, her voice small and quiet.

Everyone stopped talking and looked at her. “What did you say?” Tuluion asked.

“I will go with you too. You will need more help in finding Eriol, and I want to help,” Eleneth said, her voice became stronger.

“Eleneth no! You cannot go; you have never even left home,” her Mother pleaded.

“Mother, I must help. I feel it is my duty,” Eleneth said, she tried to be kind, but she wanted her Mother to know she was going and she could not be swayed.

Her Mother began to weep again. Her Father looked at her and smiled.

“I knew you were strong Eleneth. You will find Eriol, and help Middle earth in the process,” her Father said.

Eleneth suddenly became shy.

“Father, I am no hero, there have been many before me that were greater than I will ever be,” Eleneth said.

“Maybe so, but you are strong and I know you three will find Eriol,” Father said.

Then he looked at his son. “You were born with that same strength Tuluion, now you will go. May the Valar always watch over you, and may you never lose your strength,” Father said.

The three elves bowed then left.
