Chant to Elbereth Gilthoniel by Miredhel_of_Gondolin
O Elbereth, thou snow-white Queen,
Star-kindler knowing naught of fear!
We, Firstborn here on Middle-earth
Remember thee, yet linger here.
In everlasting bliss and light
Thou dwellest in the Blessed Realm;
While we in exile sing to thee,
Exchange our joy for sword and helm.
Yet far above thou shinest on
Though Elvenkind ride now to war.
Thy stars stir in our hearts desire
To sail to where grief is no more.
We yet recall the days of old
When still we walked in Western lands –
We then beheld thy beauty fair,
And held thy radiance in our hands.
O Varda! Under darkened skies
Once more we long to see thy star!
For greatly we desire to go
To where thou and thy kinfolk are.
If thou afar may hear our chant,
The mournful song of gloomy plight;
O Queen of shining stars, we plea
To us, the exiles, send thy light.

An excellent poem! A poem like this is very rare to find, and yet even harder to write. I read it allowed to myself, even, and the flow of it fell from my lips. I read it silently to myself first, though, and already I was there: deep inside the words. Very good job! Though the best praise I could give you is for me to say-
You are a true poet.
You have captured beautifully the meditative mood that the elves of the Last Alliance might have had as they rode to war. I also loved the rhythm of the words and the pictures of starlight that they evoke. Great work!
I’m dumbfounded again. Great job! This poem is wonderful. I hope you keep writing because I like your poems best.
