Do you think of them?

As I lay,
Afraid to move, afraid to speak
He asks:
“Do you think of them?”
I say:
“Always.”

As I sit,
on the shoulder of an Ent
He asks:
“Do you think of them?”
I say:
“Always.”

I suit up for war
listen to the King’s great speech
She asks:
“Do you think of them?”
I say:
“Always.”

‘Tis the final step
I prepare to die
He asks
“Are you thinking about them?”
I say:
“Yes, I am.”
Frodo, Sam,
My thoughts are forever turned to you.
Beware, be safe.

I sit
In a rocking chair, in Brandyhall.
My cousin’s son asks:
“Do you remember him?”
I smile to myself then reply:
“of course.
But he is across the sea
In the land of the elves
Sam will go after him soon.”

After the chill of death
into the sun of life after it.
Pippin is by my side,
we see them come and say:
“Did you think of us?”
They smile and say:
“Always, my friends, always,”
