Elrond lit a candle, the room was in darkness, and he could hear the laughter of Arwen with her Aragorn in the garden. They had gone out there together after dinner in order to be alone. There were private things that Lord Aragorn had to say to Arwen. He told her of his destiny, that he was heir to a kingdom, he told her that he loved her, and had to go away. And her eyes were filled with tears as she heard the news that he knew that his mother wanted him safe with the elves in Rivendell, but he knew that he had to learn the ways of the ranger, how to survive, by himself before he could come back to life again as the true warrior and heir that he was meant to be. She knew that Elrond hew the real story of Aragorn, but all Arwen knew was their beautiful love, a love that Aragorn, now told her that he must leave. The love would have to stay hidden and his bid for a throne would have to be public. He told her that he would try to come back for her if she went to the land of the grey havens, Aragaorn told her she was not safe, and he wanted her protected, and so did Elrond. Elrond came with the candle out into the fragrant garden and took his daughter inside, away from her lover, it was a time of change for all of them, it was a time of new beginnings. Elrond put the candle on the table and gave to Aragorn secret coded messages that had come for Aragorn while he was safe in the land of the elves. The bid for his kingship had begun, and he was leaving many precious things behind – claudiamarie
