She used to watch the sun fade,
And darken e’ry hill and glade,
Then turn to go into house alone,
her face as hard as the stone.

Her life was bitter, hard and cruel,
Watching one once great become a fool,
She toiled on under sun,
And yet found no rest when day was done.

On day she looked o’er yonder field,
As if her fate were sealed,
Then, in the distance far ahead,
Stood one who took away her breath.

Aragorn it was whom she saw,
Who came to make right Rohan’s law,
He came and gave her freedom it’s true,
But he also stole her heart too.

She loved him with her whole heart,
But his love was given to one whom’d depart,
He was loathed to break a heart so fair,
That had so resently ascended from despair.

Aragorn, Aragorn, send hope,
Though even without she has coped,
Faramir, Faramir, do not delay,
Please, I beg you, go Eowyn’s way!
