Note: The title means ‘The Fading’ (I don’t think I’m so bad at Elvish for this to be wrong, but if it is, PM me. I DO know there are other EXISTING words that mean fading, but I liked the gerund of Thinna- the best.)

*I Thinnad*

In spring the golden leaves do fall
Amid the sparkling Elanor
The summer comes and warms the wood
And bright leaves tremble in the wind
When autumn comes, the air turns crisp
But winter air chills every heart.
The sun at dawn, the moon at night;
A night comes for every living thing.

The days pass, and the fading years,
Have laid their winters on my heart
Which chills and yearns for times long past,
Long ago when the world was young.

Yet those times are far behind,
Alone in dark’ning memories,
And every moment takes them farther,
And I grasp at them in vain.

So pass the days and winding seasons,
as Winter kills what I now know.
The days are dark’ning, the woods are fading,
More memories are passing away.

But in the night I watch the West,
And see the pale moon climb the sky,
And in the heavens stars arise,
Their dancing light glowing on shimmery seas.

And the memories are there, the Two Trees shine,
The woods are trembling with joy of spring,
The white shores welcome all with laughter,
My heart is still at home.

But then the sky is light again,
And another day has passed away.
My tears are falling once again,

The memories still are fading.
