Sam dashed through the city of Minas Tirith toward the Houses of Healing. When he had awoken, he had gone in the search of the rest of the Fellowship and Frodo. Then he had recieved the grave news from Gandalf.

Sam burst through the doors and demanded from a Healer to know where Frodo was.

“Where is he?!?!? Where is he?!?!?”

“Where is WHO, Master Hafling?”

“The Ringbearer, Frodo Baggins of the Shire!”

“Calm yourself, Master Hafling. He’s in the third dormotory, second door to your right.”

Sam ran up a flight of stairs, through two hallways and burst through the “marked” door making Merry, Pippin and Aragorn, who were in the room, jump. Sam stopped in the doorway when he saw the look on their faces.

“Oh no…”

He ran over to the bed where Frodo lay and climbed on it next to Merry and Pippin.* Frodo was pale (with a blue tint) and did not move. His breath came shallow and uneven.

“How can this happen?” Sam asked, turning toward Aragorn. “After all that he went through to save Middle Earth, now he has to suffer?”

“The Healers have done all that they could, Sam. We can do no more,” Aragorn said as he left the room to leave the Hobbits alone.

Sam, Merry and Pippin stayed in Frodo’s room all night.

*The beds in Minas Tirith were to high for the Hobbits to see over just by sitting by them. So they had to climb onto the beds.
