~*Lament For Lorien*~

The woods of my homeland are fair and serene,
Many an age, have I dwelled there,
Among the leaves of crystal green,
Beside the waters clear I did often wander.
Many a day, have I listened,
To tales of the rivers,
The whispers on the wind,
Songs of the eagles,
Chants of the trees.

My people are strong and fair,
Yet now they and I venture in,
To this inescapable dragon’s lair.

The heat of this fight,
It burns on your skin,
This anger,
Hatred,
So painful,
This fear of pain,
This distress,
Death.

Hearts they are pounding,
Thunder drums its war beat
Lightning illuminates our fear.
No longer can I see clear.
My course is clouded
Yet I remain still
I shall not forsake this battle,
While my people remain near.

The enemy is advancing,
The weapons are readied,
Yet I deter my eyes from our loathsome prey,
Move them slowly upwards,
To stare at the diamond encrusted, ebony sky.

My love, you are waiting,
I feel it all the time,
I need to be with you,
To comfort you,
To feel your peace,

Why did I come here my love?
Why did I leave?
You say it is my duty, my path,
But look my love,
See the fear, the anguish, the anger and the wrath?

The roar of war,
The shout of battle,
The screams of pain,
The clash of metal,
The steel, hooked sword,
The flash of a spark,
The arrows are fitted,
Yet still many will depart.

Tears are falling, my love
Many have sunk,
People are dying, my love,
For the reign of evil,
This fight is lost, my love
My eyes see no victory.

How could it have come to this?
To see our people,
So strong and fair,
Lying blood soaked on battled ground.
I still will go on my love
Wait for me please,
Though I cannot promise I shall return now,
For my eyes see no triumph.

You said once to me,
I should be who I am,
I remember your words now.
Yes, my love,

This is my duty…
