Memoirs of the Journey

Walking down the lonely Road again
Hoping, wishing, and wanting for other times.
Thinking of days long gone
Recalled right now, here in this song.
Thinking of memories and faraway lands-
of the toils of war and bloodied hands.
I’ll never forget the expressions on the faces-
all filled with sorrow, from any of the races.
Their eyes were bright,
and their hearts were stout,
but their lives were tormented with unending night-
whether they would live was always in doubt.
The day seemed so ageless, the evening so long
Many thought that our journey was wrong
Funny how those were the ones that fled
Because of them, many are dead.
But the trauma is over
All of it has passed.
However, I still can’t relax.
Will I ever be happy here?
There’s nothing more I have to fear.
But, I still can find no rest.
I’m leaving this land once and for all,
going out the door one last time,
and saying goodbye to familiar friends.
Finally, I am at my end.
