Ch.1 Today’s special meal: mutton stuffed lembas

“Good afternoon everyone, I am Boromir of Gondor and today’s special guest on the show is Prince Legolas of Tonawanda… I mean of Mirkwood. Nice to have you with us Legolas,” said Boromir, bowing to him.

Legolas brushed his beautiful blond hair out of his face and said hello in his elf fashion.

“Today we will be making Lembas stuffed mutton. We all know that lembas is elven whey bread, so Legolas can you tell us more about this “lembas”?” he questioned.

“Well, Boromir, there is the juice of the fruit from the lovely Mallorn Tree,” Legolas said winking to all his fans that were tuned into the show.

“Oh wonderful! Now, I am a trained Gondorian chef and…”

“I thought you were a soldier, Boromir.” Legolas chuckled. Boromir’s ears turned pink now that his secret was out.

“I’m that too, elfy. Anyway, we are going to take this mutton prepared by our other friend, Gimli the dwarf. Hello, Gimli,” Boromir said, looking at the dwarf whose head could barely be seen over the counter.

“Hello, Boromir, Legolas,” Gimli said.

“Uh, Gimli, would you like me to find you a box?” Legolas chuckled, thinking back on a situation similar to this.

“I think I’ll take you up on that now, laddy,” said Gimli, embarrassed.

“How nice, the elf and the dwarf are getting along… I happen to know of a story where Aragorn had to toss Gim…ow Gimli, why’d you do that?!”

“Never mind that! Anyway, I prepared the mutton in a frying pan, back in the mines. The others were jealous of me, so I served them some, too, which they found to be quite delicious. It became a big thing in those parts, and now to them, I am chef Gimli,” he finished, quite pleased with himself.

“Wonderful job, my friend,” Legolas said, quietly.

“How touching,” Boromir said sarcastically and then continued, “Is it true that you have a restaurant called “Chez Gimli”?”

“Yes, and business is going very well.”

“That’s great, now on with our meal. We take a knife… now not just a knife-knife, a henckle knife… and make a slit in our lembas.” Boromir said, demonstrating.

“Now we take our mutton, which has to cool, and stuff the lembas with it. Make sure you don’t stuff it too much. Gimli, what goes into the mutton?” Boromir asked.

“Well, a little salt and a little EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) and if you want to put some garlic powder in it then, by all means do it!” Gimli said happily.

“How long do you cook it for?” Legolas asked.

“Until it gets nice and crisp!”

“Then from my experience, you put it into a bowl, juice and all, and put it in the fridge until it cools, right?” asked Boromir.

“Right, laddy! You are really getting the hang of it!” Gimli said.

“When it cools, you stuff the lembas as demonstrated before and then to top it off, and to make it look appealing, you chop a basil leaf and put it on top,” Boromir said and started chopping.

“Ow! Still sharp! I have such bad luck with blades. I hope you all don’t mind having my DNA in your food!” Boromir laughed, but Legolas and Gimli gave him a disgusted look.

“And there you have it! Lembas stuffed mutton! An easy, but DELICOUS treat and one of Middle-earth’s best dishes. That’s all the time we have for today! I’m Boromir!”

“I’m Gimli!”

“I’m Legolas!”

“And you’re watching Middle-earth’s Best Dishes! Thanks for watching!” They said in unison and the audience tuned out.
