Say it’s just a story
Another broken tune
Is Gondor really failing?
Has it fallen into ruin?
Say it’s just a nightmare
A dream that’s gone astray
That Denethor is failing
That Gondor soon will pay.
Tell me it’s a rumor
A whisper on the wind
That Gondor’s hope is fading
And the orcs are straying far.
Say they have a captain
Tell me that they do
To lead them strong in battle
To teach them all kung fu.
(sorry it’s all I could get to rhyme)
Say it’s just a moment
That’ll surely pass
I’d rather stay roaming
Than join the ranks and die.
Tell me that I’ll see her
Say I’ll return unscathed
Arwen’ll still be waiting
And I’ll see her again.

Ah! I like this indeed. Good job! As for whether or not those are the thoughts Aragorn was thinking, how can we know? For it takes courage to enter that man’s mind, and good for you that you tried. Also, when you come to a line where you cannot rhyme (like the “kung fu” one), remember: those words aren’t set in stone! Change them up until they rhyme, all poets must do so. But on the whole, good job.
