Silence.

Deep in someone’s heart:

“I amar prestar aen…”
(The world is changed.)

“han mathon ne nen…”
(I feel it in the water.)

“han mathon ne chae…”
(I feel it in the Earth.)

“a han noston ned gwilith”
(I smell it in the air.)

Suddenly somebody broke the silence by his prancing sound.

“Hi Frodo!… Don’t be that upset, cheer up! What’s the matter with you?” Said Pippin, (still) prancing towards Frodo who is sitting quietly in the sitting room, with his hands holding something smelly and his eyes fixed on that stinky thing.

“The world is changed…” Without looking up, Frodo’s still muttering by himself. “I feel it in the water… I… smell… in the air…”

After confirming that waving his hands fiercely in front of Frodo won’t help (to get his attention), Pippin sighed and then drew his attention to the smelly thing Frodo’s holding. “It seems like it should be something eatable,” Pip thought, “but I’ll doubt very much if Frodo told me it really can be swallowed.”

Curiously, Pippin tried to take a bit of that stuff from Frodo’s hand, but he held it too tight that he couldn’t get any. Soon Pippin gave up and shake Frodo by his shoulders heavily, trying to call him back. At last Frodo woke up, but his eyes were out of focus and was looking despaired.

“What’s wrong with you? Why are you looking like that?” Asked Pip.

“The world is changed…”

“STOP telling me about ‘the world is changed’ thing!” Shouted Pippin immediately, “What have you got in your hands that made you behave like that? Com’ on, let me see it!” “Don’t tell me it’s another golden ring stuff.” He added.

Frodo slowly opened his hands, and a brown spongy-like thing showed up. Now he is watching Pippin with red eyes, filling with tears.

“The world is changed… I feel it in the water, I feel it in the earth, I smell it in the air… that my beloved precious…(sobbing)ssss cake* is rotten…”

“…”

*At the very last moment Pippin found out that this “precious” cake Frodo’s holding was one of those tasty food made by Elves of Lothlórien, and Frodo took it away secretly from one of the meal when they were there. Unfortunately, it was polluted by the air of Mordor in the way of destroying the one ring.
