Some wounds go too deep
I will not say “Don’t weep,”
For not all tears are bad
So cry, but don’t be sad.
Someday we’ll meet once more
On that far other shore.
Someday you’ll understand
Why we part here on the sand.
This is not the end
It’s only the road’s bend
I cannot linger here
The pain begins to sear
The hurt that’s deep inside
Still throbs while I reside
In this grey drear mortal realm
Under fading oak and elm.
So I must travel ever on
I will miss you when I’m gone,
But one day you’ll follow me
To Paradise across the sea.
