I must know.
All I could be
Ever fills my mind . . .
Do I remain,
Or do I follow
This darker ambition
For the power
It would bring . . .
I fear this choice,
This bitter trial;
For it must reveal
The worth
Or the vanity
Of all my dreams and deeds.
Yet to it with longing
I draw near . . .
For I must know
What I will be.
