~Prologue~
It has been many years since the battle for Middle Earth took place. Everyone is safe at home where they belong. The hobbits are back at the Shire, Legolas is home in Mirkwood, Gimli and the dwarves dwell in Moria, and evil has been defeated/ Aragorn, now king of Minas Tirith, is happily married to Arwen, daughter of Elrond. They now have two children, Eldarion and Elwen. Eldarion is now 18 years old, and Elwen is 12. Eldarion is brash and arrogant, but is a skilled warrior and noble leader. Elwen is as beautiful as her mother, but has her father’s short temper. After Elwen was born, Aragorn called the fellowship back together to see his wonderful children. Legolas took interest in baby Elwen and stayed in Minas Tirith for a while to watch her grow. He taught her many things about the elves and their heritage. Being twelve, Elwen is a little too smart for her own good and often gets into trouble. She delights in using her good looks and talents to get what she wants.

Chapter 1:
“Elwen! Elwen, where are you?” Aragorn called for his daughter who was nowhere is sight. He searched many of the rooms of the castle before stepping out into the courtyard.

“Elwen!” he called again. Just then, an arrow shot near his feet, making him jump slightly. He heard giggles and looked up above him. He found young, beautiful daughter, laughing while she sat on a tree limb.

“There you are. Come down here!” he said.

“But Ada, it’s fun to sit up here!” she began to whine.

“Elwen,” Aragorn warned as he raised an eyebrow at her. She sighed and jumped down from the tree. She took off running.

“Elwen!” Aragorn called.

“You gotta catch me!” she called over her shoulder with a grin. Aragorn took off running after her. Though Aragorn had grown older since his ranger years, he was still swift and he soon caught up with her. He swooped her into his arms and tickled her, swinging her around. She laughed and he laughed with her. He gave her a big hug and placed a kiss on her cheek. Just then, Arwen joined them.

“Aragorn son of Arathorn! Legolas has been waiting for you for over half an hour!” she scolded. Aragorn placed Elwen on her feet and she took his hand.

“Can I come with you?” Elwen asked. Aragorn smiled down at her pleading face.

“Come, let us see how Legolas is doing these days,” Aragorn said as they walked off together. Arwen smiled inwardly at Aragorn’s affection for their daughter.
