((Please forgive my horrible elvish, I’m not quite done learning. And only elf and human characters please.))
Ella had been through all of her phases, and finally reached the last. She had been young and thought of all the exciting things she could see through the ages, then she had grown older and seen that Elves were made to guide humans. She had learned to fight and traveled all over Middle-earth, learning much about Men. Then she had fallen in love, finding romance so sweet, only to have the man die of old age. Then she felt an even stronger need to help Men, and stayed from Valinor because of it. She helped guide them, falling in love over and over only to have her heart broken each time. Then she had grown cold, began to fade into the background and nudge along individuals or small groups to action. But thousands of years taught her that they would never learn, and that their culture would never be as great as its potential. She watched idly as they turned to electronics for counterfeit magic, turning that also to weaponry. Then she became bored, perhaps even lazy, when she discovered that she had made a mistake in staying. There was now no way for her to leave. For a long time a thought had been growing in her mind, that it would be far easier simply to destroy their race and start over. She had given in. In the beginning she would have shunned such a thought, called it purely evil and joined wholeheartedly the army opposing it. But years of failed efforts and utter loneliness can drive even an elf mad.
So Ella walked down Pennsylvania Avenue at night with a long, dark coat pulled tightly around her. She had died the tips of her long, sleek, blonde hair black, letting it blend with the dark sky. The sliver of a moon reflected in her pale silver eyes like a pale gleam in Gollum’s, even her pale skin shone as his did. But Ella did not have a sickly look about her; she still held the grace of an elf despite her jaded thoughts. She walked past a large white house and then walked across the green of the Mall. She sat on the edge of the pool of water and dipped her feet in its cool depths. A few ducks who had been resting were disturbed, but thought no more of her.
Leaning back casually on her arms, she whispered clearly, “Nim le este, mor le im echuva. Lach morchaint, ruin lanta gon.”(White thou rest, black thee I will make. Leaping flame cast shadows by your light, red flame fell stone.)
Instantly a warm glow began in one room, the bedroom, and quickly spread. Sirens blared and agents yelled as Ella walked, unnoticed, in the opposite direction.
~~~
The next morning she followed her usual routine, beginning with a stop for tea and a croissant in a coffee shop at exactly 6:10. She was dipping the croissant in the Green tea when it came on the news. The White House was spectacularly black and they rolled footage of the high flames. Evidently the entire block was in a state of quarantine with no one going in and no one going out. That went on for about ten minutes until the real news came.
“We’ve just received word that the fire began in the President’s bedroom,” the entire room went quiet as everyone strained to hear, “and the President and First Lady were both burned to death.”
Gasps, exclamations, crying, and screaming drowned out the announcement that all the occupants had also died, including all of the President’s cabinet.
Ella kept a straight face, neither elated nor despairing. She had done what she had set out to do. The United States, undoubtedly one of the most influential nations, was prone to attack. Destruction was so much simpler than construction.
Aiden was on a plane to America from Japan when he heard about the fire in the White House. He has been living in Japan when they still had samuri's, but he was born in Europe (He can't quite remember which country) As he was watching the news, he thought to himself 'what could have caused a fire like that? it spread so fast and it was so sudden. Maybe an elf...' He tried to shake the thought out of his head. He just can't believe that one of his own would do something like that. Now his thoughts wandered off many years when he met a beautiful, and powerful, elf named Ella. He never told her that he loved her because he was afraid of rejection back then. He went to america just for that purpose, because he heard that Ella was now in america, but now he's not sure that the plane would even land there. 'I hope she's not dating human's anymore.'
Ella finished her brakfast and walked out into the streets. They were not so crowded as a few months ago, when tourist season had been in full force, but the locals still filled many of the streets. Of course the news had spread quickly and the majority were searching for a tv or heading home, fearing it was a terrorist attack and that their city was unsafe. But Ella knew otherwise and calmly headed to the exchange office where she worked exchanging Euros, francs, pounds, and other foreign money for good old American cash. A plane had just arrived from Japan, so it was pretty busy with many people who didn't even know the local language. Unfortunately Ella had never bothered with Japanese, so a translator stood next to her and told her what each customer wanted. She rarely looked up she was so busy until she heard someone speaking to her in her own tongue, a familiar voice. It took her a while to place the face until she finally recognized Aiden. She sat in a state of mild shock for a moment. The last thing she had expected was to see an elf, much less one that she knew so long ago.
'So the plane did land in Washington D.C. after all' Aiden thought. When he got off the plane, he went to the nearest bathroom. He was still in his Japanese form, so he needed to switch out of it. He was in there for about a moment, and when he came out he had bright red hair, dark green eyes and pale skin. This is his usual form, without the pointed ears and some other elvish features. He knew that people today don't believe that his kind exist and that mankind has forgotten all about magic.
He went to change his Yen for American cash, but He didn't expect to see her working there. Aiden didn't reconize her at first, it's been so long.
"Ella? Is that you?"
"Aiden," she sounded surprised.
It wasn't a happy sort of surprise, but not disappointed either. It was just . . . surprise. Her eyes stared blankly at him. She should have been excited, or happy, or something. But she didn't feel anything except a faint, deep sense of liking to see him. It disturbed her, her near complete lack of emotion. She made herself smile and exchanged his Yen as she spoke.
"I'm off in a few hours, if you want to meet somewhere," she said, "If you don't know of a place, I can show you a few sites."
Aiden smiled at her. "That'll be great! This is the hotel I'm staying at." He handed her a card with his hotel room number writen on the back. He took him a while to notice that people were yelling behind him in Japanese. "Ok so... I'd better go. See ya."
As he was walking down the streets of the torn capital, he had two things on his mind: Ella, and who blew up the White House. He already ruled out the possibility of an accident. It was too big and it spread too fast. May be Ella would put him in a happy mood. At the hotel, he threw down his small luggage bag and slept for a little while.
