Post Alliteration Sentence Challenge
on: July 08, 2004 10:21
Hi everyone!

Here is something that I have always had fun thinking up. I hope you will too! Your sentences can be short or long but the character, place or object names must from one of Tolkien's works; and the sentences should make some kind of sense.

From the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary:

alliteration:
the repetition of usually initial consonant sounds in two or more neighbouring words or syllables (as wild and woolly, threatening throngs) -- called also head rhyme, initial rhyme

Here are two examples:

Sweet, starving Sam supposed siliently that the steaming squash soup, slightly spicy savoury stew, simple spinach salad, succulent, significantly-sized strawberries, the soft sweet sesame scones and sunflower seeds seemed like a splendid, sumptuous, satisfying supper.

Stupified, sly, sinister Shelob slid stenuously into her stinky, slimy sanctuary seemingly stunned.

Go ahead, try it!

All nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs must begin with the same letter. Little words like if, but, of, into, on, in, etc. are okay (unavoidable really).

Rules: The player starts the next sentence with the last letter of the sentence above.

and... on July 21, 2004 I added this twist:

Little twist in the game: End the sentence with a X or a Y (if you feel you have no choice) and the next person can choose which letter to start the next sentence, or you have the option of using the letter immediately preceding it .... For example if the word is rapidly you may use "L" instead of "Y". . This will give us a chance to use rarely used letters like A B C F I J M O Q U V W Z.

Hey, this is a really good game, but can we somehow make it more relevant?

Well I mean the next person who posts needs to write a new sentence with the last letter of previous sentence.

Eg. Flustered Frodo fed feisty fish frantically to his finicky, famished, fanatical friend

Durin danced dashingly .... etc, etc

That sound good?
