Post Reflexive verbs

In PE 12 we find on page 47:
-co (-to): reflexive suffix.

So I was wondering whether we could use something like:
allucon or allunyeco to mean 'I wash myself' (I think I prefer allucon as it sounds nicer )
in contrast to
allun 'I wash' (i.e. I do the washing).

Opinions please?

Interesting! And I guess you're on the right track... it's hard to imagine what else a 'reflexive suffix' would be used for. Russian uses this method for reflexive verbs (the suffix is -s'a), but the suffix is added after the pronominal ending.

I agree with you that if we use this, then it sounds better with the suffix coming before the pronoun. But, thinking of how the ending for the subject comes before the ending of the object, wouldn't it fit the general structure better if the suffix took the place of the object?

I'm not familiar with the verb 'allu-'... is it a u-stem? Does it come from PE 12?

Allu- is indeed mentioned in PE 12, but HKF uses it in lesson 18 of his course. So that is why even though it isn't mentioned in his wordlist, I still use it.

Ah, you're right of course. An early verb, but very useful
Thanks!
