(Anyone can join!)

Aragorn sat on his marble throne and pondered on what he should do about the orc attacks that have been happening of late. Even with Sauron destroyed; orcs were still quite capable of gathering up and making small surgical strikes whenever elves or a band of men would somehow cross their territory. Aragorn was amazed at the orc's corrupted courage, and wondered if possibly something else was ruling them, as if Sauron left an heir to further detierate Middle- Earth. Aragorn then called upon his chief councillors to aid him in his plan of combat against the orcs, and possibly their new ruler....

(( May I join? Thiadvain's in the DB. ))

Thiadvain Faronhigil trotted his brown stallion towards the great gates of Minas Tirith. It had been some time since he'd visited the White City... and though the elf always felt 'closed in' by King Aragorn's captial, Thiadvain felt his news worth his own discomfort.

He'd just come from the wilds... on another of his own, personal orc-hunts, but the number of bands he encountered had begun to worry the dark-haired ellon.

Thiadvain had only seen the Gondorian King once... standing back in the crowd at the coronation... but like many an elf, he respected Aragorn - or, to himself, Thiadvain often thought of him as Edhelharn - Elf-stone in the Common tongue.

"Daro, Hwesten!*" the ellon said softly, and patting his mount's neck, Thiadvain waited for a group of traders to exit the gates, and then urged his horse forward again - this time at a walk, and in a few moments, the elf was guiding the stallion up the rroad towards Aragorn's palace...

((Can I join too? Nenndil's in the DB.))

Nenndil's slow travels around Middle Earth that had begun when the Lord Elrond had forsaken Imladris and travelled into the west had finally brought him into the realm of Gondor. The dark haired elf was travel weary and thinner then when he had set out, and the childish, light spirit that dwelt within him was still obvious in his playful movements, the light steps of his feet and the song he sang under his breath. Nenndil's bow and dirks were bound to his back, his quiver to his waist, but he had not been forced to use weapons in a long while, a pleasent idea to the once sergant of Imladris, who had spent all of the life he could remember building it around weapons and fighting.

The elf glanced up, and frowned at what he thought he saw as he glanced against the glare of the mid-morning sun. He began to run, swinging his bow off his back, left hand holding the leather handle tightly, while his left strayed to his quiver, resting on the nock of an arrow, but not drawing it yet. He stopped by a tree, maybe a hundred yards from the frey that he had seen from a distance and his fears were confirmed. Nenndil slotted the arrow onto the string, and easily drew back the string of his bow to his chin, closing his left eye as he aimed. A red and black flected arrow flew from the bow, embedding itself in the forehead of an orc that was in the process of cutting down a young woman, felling it instantly. A second arrow flew into the frey, slaying another orc, sending the remaining six into a panic as they glanced around to find see thier attacker. But by the time they realised Nenndil was in their midst, dirks in his hands, and he flew among the small party, his movements a blur.

It was easy work for the young elf to kill off three of the orcs, and the other three were slain by those that they had attacked, who were given new hope by the appearance of the elf.

As the last orc fell, Nenndil bent to wipe his dirks clean on its body, before turning to the small party of men. A boy was helping the girl up, as two men cleaned their weapons. "Are you all right?" Nenndil asked concerned.

"We should be, thanks to you." The girl said, dusting herself off, and checking a cut that travelled across her arm, causing Nenndil to smile.

"Are you headed to Minas Tirith?" One of the elder men asked.

"I wasn't really headed anywhere." Nenndil replied, as he pulled his arrows up, checking them. One of them had snapped as the orc it had hit had fallen forwards onto it, but the other one was all right, so he slipped it back into his quiver.

"I was going to offer you shelter for as long as you liked..." The man said, "but if you are not staying then what else can I offer you?"

Nenndil smiled again and shook his head. "I do not need anything, but thank-you." He frowned briefly. "Do you think that someone should be told about this?" He asked the men.

"Probably." They agreed.

"Then I will walk with you to Minas Tirith." Nenndil said. 'I wonder if Estel remembers me?' He thought to himself, remembering the King of Gondor as he had known him: a child in Elrond's household.

((Assume Nenndil arrives in time for the council, I'm sure you don't want more of this! Sorry, I didn't mean for it to be so long.))

[OOC: Can I join? Lanthiriel is in the db too. She's adoptive daughter of one of Elrond's councillors (human but elf-raised).]

Lanthiriel - or just Lante to her friends - glared broodingly out of the window in the council chamber as yet another hunting party returned, weary and depleted, to the safety of the city walls. Another orc attack.

She was going to turn away and start getting the chamber in order, but stopped when she realised that this party was one member more. Was that an eldar with them? He looked very, very familiar too...

Of course! He had been a warrior of Rivendell... Now what was his name again...? She had known him when she was growing up in Rivendell, but only by sight - Lante was never much of a warrior; after all, she had been brought up to be a councillor, not a fighter.

She hurried down to the courtyard to get a closer look.

(( hey, i hope you dont mind if i join, Morwen is in the DB, shes a noldor elf cast out from the undying lands for murdering her brother))

Morwen crept in the undergrowth of the edge of Ithilen, she edged towards a large group of Orcs, perhaps 100 of the foul creatures who were gathered round a large fire. She pressed her body against a tree and listened to their conversation. She heard the words Mirkwood, Leader, gathering and fire, or was it revolt. She could not tell, she knew little of the dark tongue and what she could interpret may be incorrect.

The Orcs knew someone was close and Morwen turned away, so many orcs could easily kill her. As she came out of the trees, a neigh echoed out and Morwens horse came galloping towards her. she jumped on its back but the black Stallion had alerted the orcs to her presence. She heard them roar and run through he trees.

Clamping her legs to the horses side and she urged it foreward. Arrows whistled through the trees and she winced as one pierced into her thigh, another made a deep cut in her cheek. She galloped the horse on, leaning up her horses neck, then a black Orc's arrow struck true and deep into her back. Morwen through her arms around the horses neck and everything went black.

Roch, her steed, kept galloping. Onto Minas Tirith.

* * * * *

Roch, galloped through the gates and into the lower courtyard of the city, as he stopped Morwens vision came back and she saw the blurred outline of another elf. She tried to dismount the horse but the arrow in her back dug in deeper and she fainted, falling to the floor.

(( OOC: Since you've got a few elves, mind if I bring in a second char that's human? Aervon's in the DB, too... ))

Thiadvain's keen elven ears picked up the sound of thundering hooves, and twisted 'round on Hwesten's back... his eyes seeking the cause. A black horse was racing toward the gates, and as it came to a blowing halt, someone fell off.

Quickly dismounting, Thiadvain shoved his way through the gathering crowd to get a closer look for himself. An elleth! - And, his brow turning black, the elf knelt to pull an arrow-shaft from her back. As someone else pressed a clean cloth to the wound, Thiadvain glared at the weapon. "Orc!" he growled, for it was an orc-arrow! The dark-haired ellon knew his hated enemies weapons all too well. How long since the she-elf was wounded? he wondered, and gazed out across the wide plain carefully. The orcs were, indeed, becoming too bold!

***************************

Aervon was making his usual rounds of the guards posted on the lowest level of Minas Tirith, ensuring to himself that everyone was alert. A Captain of the Guard, the man was proud of serving his King... just as he'd been so as a soldier to the last Steward...

A disturbance by the gates caught his attention, and one of the soldiers was running towards him.

"Well?" Aervon snapped, and waited impatiently. "A hurt rider, sir!" the other saluted as he spoke. "A she-elf... and by an orc-arrow - that's what another elf said that's down there!"

"I'm coming!" the man's Captain nodded, and with brisk steps made his way to the gates.

A tall elf - as tall as himself, was staring at the offending arrow, and apparently ignoring the surrounding hubbub of those attending the wounded person.

"Who are you!" Aervon demanded, and snatched the weapon from the ellon's hands. "Who's she? What's going on here?"

The elf's dark-brown eyes flashed. "My name is Thiadvain - who she is, I do not know. I come bearing news of orcs, and," glancing down at the elleth, "So, it would seem, does she."

Morwen felt the arrow being taken out of her back. Her whole body relaxed and she felt a great release. Turning over she held her face upwards letting the sun warm her elven face. Her eyes were nearly white from the pain when she opened them.

Looking up she saw men and an elf around her, she heard questions and the cursing of Orcs. She opened her mouth and words came out as a hoarse whisper.

" I am Morwen from the Lands of the Valar." she gasped struggling to speak but continued
"Orcs, about a hundred on the edge of Ithilen. They speak of Mirkwood and the rising of a new leader and gathering and fire and...." Morwen coughed, spun over and spat out a mouthful of blood onto the floor. Turning back she looked up at what seemed a Captain of Gondor standing in front of her.
" Ahhhh.....Minas Tirith." She whispered to herself.

Those who were bandaging her had finished and she got up to look around her. As she rose to her feet she swayed, lost balance and had to grab hold of the ellon standing near her. Looking down she saw dressings on her thighs and round her waist. Her clothes were ruined, shredded to pieces with pale skin showing through the rips all over her body.
She pushed black hair out of her face and winced as it brushed over the gash down her face,

" I'm not so pretty now" she said with a slight smile" I want to help you, the Orcs gave the impression of rallying in Mirkwood. Dol Guldur being rebuilt is a certain possibility, with sheilding from the forest on all sides and an open plain to the realms of men it makes tactical sense. But then my interpreting is not so good and other intelligence will most probably suggest otherwise."

Morwen shook slightly, she could already feel some of her strength coming back

Nenndil looked up at the palace. It was impressive, he admitted, but not to his tastes; to built up and crowded. He looked to the men that he had been walking with, and bowed slightly. "Thank-you for your company." He said politly.

As he started to take his leave from them another elf on horseback came past. Nenndil turned to look and soon realised that she was injured. He joined the press of people who wanted to see better, but soon felt jostled and crowded, and ducked out to the courtyard walls, breathing heavily, sweat on his brow. Looking back he saw a young woman watching him, a young woman who's face looked familiar, but he could not place.

Eventually Nenndil went to her, his curiosity getting the better of him. Again, he bowed his head, green eyes watching her carefully. "I am sorry, my Lady, but it seems to me that I have met you before. I am Nenndil..."

Thiadvain, who had solicitously reached out to help the elleth regain her balance when she grabbed hold of him, nodded soberly. His dark-brown eyes flashed angrily at her news. His voice, however, was quiet when he spoke.

"That agrees with the movements I've seen," the ellon said soberly, and then, "I am Thiadvain... of Imladholen, Mithlond, and I have lived in Lothlorien, too."

Thiadvain then turned to the Guard-Captain. "I think your King would need this information, sir." Once again addressing Morwen, the elf shifted his bow and quiver onto his other shoulder. "Can you walk, hiril*?" he asked solicitously.

**********************

'Need'? That was an understatement if Aervon ever heard one. Calling one of his junior officers to take temporary command of the guards, the Captain curtly said, "This way!"

He might have, perhaps, just sent a runner up to the Palace, but for this Aervon preferred taking these elves to King Aragorn himself...

.... "And i have just come back from scouting the realm, of course without injuries, by a band of orcs lurking in the wood. We have also recieved news that the King of Gondor, has taken action against these "strikes" but has not been very succesful, he has lost many men." " Grievious news indeed," Nenndil replied, "But it seems to me that they have no elves in their service to aid them?, am I right?" he asked. "Well it has been very difficult to escort anyone or anything down to the southern kingdoms without severe losses, we have tried several times to get a large band of elven warriors through, but the orc bands get bigger and bigger." she replied. " You are right Lanthiriel, I have seen the orcs fight, they fight with corrupted courage as the King of Gondor put it." "But let us put aside this matter and have some rest, tommorow we will stress some more about this matter." "Goodnight Nenndil, I was glad that we came across eachother." "As do I, goodnight Lanthiriel, may the Valar protect you!" They walked away quietly, each thinking on what the morrow would bring....

Morwen stood as straight as she could despite the bandage round her waist and thigh. She replied to Thiadvain with a nod.

"Yes i think i am capable of walking, but i was wondering if you could permit me to lean on you otherwise you shall find progress slow and most probably wish to go ahead, which is understandable, i acknowledge that the injured are often a burden"

Morwen watched a groom take Roch, her horse, to a stable and waited for a reply from the ellon, she did not wish to be overly foreward to someone she had just met. Even though she admired his control of the obvious anger within him and found his quiet voice calming.

"Of course," Thiadvain answered, and with a slight smile, politely offered his arm to Morwen. The smile widened briefly, when a second groom paused by Hwesten's head. For, like many elves, Thiadvain used neither saddle nor bridle... though his mount did have several saddle-bags slung across his withers.

"Aphado den*, Hwesten," the ellon gently ordered his mount, and after snorting softly, the stallion obediently moved off.

With a slight bow, Thiadvain indicated they could now follow the Gondorian Captain, though out of deference to the elleth's injury, kept the pace slower than his normal one. "You were lucky, hiril**," he commented, trying to think of a conversation topic, "to escape the orcs with wounds no worse than the ones you received..."

******************

Aervon ignored the quiet voices of the dark-haired ellon and the injured she-elf as they chatted... though the man, too, walked more slowly than he usually did... or even, perhaps, as the Captain 'ought' to - not with more news of orcs running wild.

But, soon, they'd reached the highest level of the White City, and answering a salute from the Palace Guards, he turned to the two elves. "A servant will take you to a waiting room," Captain Aervon said curtly, and waved at an older, rather 'dignified' man, to do just that. "I'll take word to the King that you're here," he continued, and picking up his pace a little, disappeared down a long corridor...

Nenndil smiled, glad that he was right, and he had known her. "Yes, that's right. I'm afraid I cannot remember you but for your face, though." He said, as he tried to remember. "How are you? And how did you come to be here." Nenndil faltered as he remembered the errand that had brought him to the city in the first place. "Lanthiriel, I have urgent news, though I fear it is the same as the others who have just arrive carry, and it is bad. I must speak to someone, but I do not know to whom to go. Can you help me?" He spoke swiftly, worry in his voice and face, tucking a wayward strand of black hair back behind his pointed ear.

Morwen noded in thanks at Thiadvain accepting her offer. When they reached the palace Morwen spoke to the man taking them to a waiting room.

" sir, my clothes are torn and i can not see the king in such a state please could you fix these whilst i am in council with the king."

the man passed her a pale blue robe. Morwen turned slightly away from Thiadvain then swiftly and discreetly removed her outer garments. She then tied the robe tightly round her body. Then winced and loosened it as it was close against her wounds. She looked up at thiadvain and spoke with a smile,

"Yes i was lucky but i would have escaped without a scratch if it was not for Roch.(yes i know the name is obvious) that horse is still in training and has no manners. He let off a whinney that would wake the army of the dead. But yes, the arrows were not poisoned and i heal quickly, as is our nature so luck maybe but then i would not have been able to make such a dazzaling entrance!"

Morwen laughed at this then looked into Thiadvains eyes.

" i am sorry, pray forgive me, i talk so much and make little of what i do not understand, Orcs and this evil and men. It is all new to me. I understand if you wish not to speak with me, by now you have,no doubt, seen the sign of an outcast which i must openly bear."

She hung her head in shame and a tear rolled down her cheek, she began to walk away from him and then whispered,

" So strange how the past haunts me wherever i go. I can not escape it."

(( Ummm... Tar... *hides* What's the 'sign'? I didn't see any references to what it might be in the posts or in Morwen's profile. Since you've said it's 'obvious', I'll go with that... ))

Thiadvain politely turned his back while the elleth changed in to the robe... and stayed that way until the servant had left, and Morwen spoke.
" So strange how the past haunts me wherever i go. I can not escape it."

For a long moment, the dark-haired ellon was silent. Morwen's words held more within them for himself than she could know.

"I am no one to 'judge' others, hiril," Thiadvain said in his soft voice, and his dark eyes held their own sadness and anguish when he laid a hand on her shoulder, and turned Morwen around. How much he was willing to share with this stranger - yet - the elf wasn't sure, but, "What your past is... I do not ask, hiril. As to being an 'outcast'... I may bear no 'outward' signs, but inwardly..."

Thiadvain looked away for a long moment, and then met the elleth's eyes straightly. "In a way, perhaps, you could name me 'outcast'... for I have made myself one - though through no 'fault' of my own. I bear my own 'hauntings', Morwen. - And, I speak to whom I chose."

Steering away from a subject as painful to him as (clearly) her own memories were to the she-elf, Thiadvain gave Morwen a small smile. "There are few I call as 'friend', Morwen... but I would be honored to call you such. It takes a brave person to bear a burden such as yours..."

********************************

Captain Aervon took a deep breath, and then squared his shoulders before entering King Aragorn's presence. Who else might be there in counsel with his ruler, the man couldn't be sure of... but still...

Bowing deeply, Aervon then saluted. "Sir," he said respectfully, and waited to be recognized before delivering the rest of his report...

Nenndil smiled, and walked beside Lante, matching his stride to her smaller steps.

"I know what you mean about Imladris." He said as they walked. "I had not the heart to return after Lord Elrond left. So many are leaving now, and I do not yet understand their longing for the sea."

The young elf fell quiet for a while, thinking, white fingers playing with his black hair as he did so. Nenndil realised that he was paying no attention to the route that Lante took, and that if he wanted to leave then he would be lost. But it was too late to start taking account now.

(( sorry i updated the profile but my computer crashed so it may not have worked. i meant outcast from the undying lands for her crimes, i assumed most elves would be able to sense this. forgive me if im wrong though))

Morwen smiled at the ellon, she felt warm inside at a suggestion such as this, she had been so unfairly judged in the past and was thankful that in a place so strange to her she had found someone who she felt she could trust.

She placed her hands on Thiadvains shoulders and said,

"Yes, i would wish to be able to consider you as a friend as i hope you will be able to do with me. And i would not say i was especially brave, we all have our own burdens to bear"

Morwen did not wish to be overly foreward or bold but she had been abandoned, outcast and alone for so long. so she left decorum behind her and wrapped her arms round the elf, embracing him firmly then letting go she said to him,

"Im sorry, i should not have done so without your permission but it is so long since i have been accepted by anyone, especially my own kin. Even the one whom i loved has left me"

Morwen turned away out of embarassment and began to wonder when they would be permitted to see the king.

I apologize purplefluffychainsaw, i am altogether new to RPG and have not read the rules. here are my characters...

Aicanaro, cousin to Aragorn and Aragorn's only surviving relative, rushed up the tree to have a closer look. There below him he saw a host of orcs gathering on the marches, he guessed that there may be about 5,000 orcs, enough to destroy a small kingdom if need be. He clambered back down the tree, and landed with a soft thud.

"Macil!, we must get word to my cousin and the Lord Elrond!, we must tell them about the host, we must hurry with all speed!" Aicanaro declared. The two rangers left without a trace, hoping to leave the orc host behind in the dust.

They arrived early the next morning, in Imladris. They ran up the steps of Elrond's house and ran past the guards with haste. "My Lord Elrond, we have seen something terrible and troubling".....

(Sorry in a rush!!)

(( OOC: Don't worry about being 'new', Ellessar, we'll help you through . Just a couple of questions though [to clarify for my own 'scrambled mind', you know...] : 1) in a previous post Lord Elrond was mentioned as having Sailed for the Undying Lands ~ not a problem, we just need to know 'which' it is, I think; and 2) Are you 'playing' Aragorn, too? ~ or is he a 'free' character? ))

Aervon carefully reported every detail of what had just occurred to his King, and upon receiving his orders, went to fetch the two elves. He nodded curtly to one of the Councilors and a third elf who he passed in the hallway...

*******************

Thiadvain was surprised when Morwen hugged him, but he understood her loneliness all too well. As she turned away, he spoke. "No need to apologize, Morwen," the ellon said. Just then the door opened again... a servant returning with the she-elf's repaired clothing.

Once again, Thiadvain turned his back - giving Morwen as much privacy as he could, and began studying one of the paintings hanging on the wall.

And, a few minutes later, the door opened again - this time admitting the Captain of the Guard. "Come with me!" he bade them, and though he could see she was much better, with a smile and a short bow, Thiadvain once more offered his arm to Morwen as they headed out the door...

Morwen accepted Thiadvains arm, for a fleeting moment she considered that he had done so out of affection, but she dismissed this, she was wounded that was all. This was not the time to let her imagination run wild there were more important things to consider.

As they entered the chamber where they were to meet the king, Morwen noticed how crude the architecture was, everything about this place seemed heavy, to her it reflected that effort men had put into building Minas Tirith. It was such a contrast to the elegent hall and chambers of her forbidden home across the sea. Everything here was dark, but she could relate to darkness and to her it was more real and reassuring than an elven hall as there was no magic or illusion.

However, the guards made her wish to draw her sword, she found them unneeded and imposing, she dreaded being brought before the king not that she feared him himself. He was an elffriend, it was the process of being brought foreward. It was like standing trial again and suddenly she felt so full of anguish and fear that she clutched onto Thiadvains arm but remained in silence, wishing that she could voice her fear of being judged, the fear that would have been plain even to a dwarf as it was in her eyes.

Then she scolded herself and said in an audiable whisper,

"I who can draw sword and defend myself, i am concerned for my own fears when innocents are dying to an evil that i could help stop? how pathetic am I? i shall put my fears behind me, that is the past and i refuse to cause death again."

she did not realise that these curses were audiable to all in the chamber.....

(( i am really sorry i have a horrible habit of making long posts because i so easily identify with Morwen, if they annoy anyone please say or just read the speech and you will get a general gist))

(( lol, you've no idea of the 'books' I can write about my chars...  ))

Thiadvain's keen eyes took in everything around him with one quick sweep of the room. He'd kept them to a dignified pace - partly because of Morwen's leg injury, but also... found it 'nice' to have a friend alongside him. Banishing his own thoughts to the back of his mind, he bowed the elleth into the room first. But, even without her grip suddenly tightening around his arm, or her clearly-heard comments, he could sense his new friend's nervousness.

Glancing down at her, and since he was close enough to use his ability, the elf 'spoke' to her.

"Morwen," and his mental 'voice' was as soft, and soothing, as his normal tone. He 'caught' her attention with that, and a corner of the ellon's mouth twitched. "Aye, I can 'speak' thusly... within a short distance. But... your words were overheard. You are not 'pathetic', Morwen! - No more than I. Trust me, my friend... we both have our own strengths - and though I know but little of you - have I not called you brave? You can put your fears behind you... and I shall do the same..."

Even though he was 'speaking', Thiadvain's 'outward' attention was on the Ruler of Gondor and his Councellors, and waited patiently for the two of them to be acknowledged...

(( quick note: Thiadvain uses 'aye' for 'yes'... One of his little 'quirks'! :rolling: ))

Morwen tilted her head towards Tiadvain and heard his words, she acknowledged them and his voice helped to calm her. She did not make any reply, she could think of nothing to say at this moment but she knew the ellon was aware that she had heard him.

she gathered her thoughts, this was about stopping the rise of evil again, an evil that she vowed to fight untill the bitter end. She looked up at Aragorn in the eyes and waited to be formerly adressed.

[OOC: A bit of character intro coming up, so if you're not into this sort of thing skip it.]

Lante and Nenndil arrived in Aragorn's chamber, and she recognised Thiadvain and Morwen from just now. Aragorn looked busy with another group at the moment, so she motioned to Nenndil to step aside and wait.

"What news of the other lands? Is it as bad as it's getting here? There are days I begin to think we'll be under siege sooner or later; the people are getting too scared to venture out once they hear of all the ill-fated parties that have gone and never come back, or those who drag themselves home, more than half their numbers gone... What's worse, we don't really know what to do. We haven't managed to come up with a stategy that actually works yet. In theory, it sounds good enough, yet out in the fields we soon find that we don't have enough people, or the orcs are too many, or just that everything goes wrong from the start..."

She broke off, fingers unconsciously toying with the thick lock of hair that always had a habit of falling over her right shoulder. Lante decided to leave out the part where the other councillors weren't very accepting of her, and more inclined to arguing among themselves than to listening to what each other had to say. She knew Erestor could probably have easily whipped such a bickerish lot into shape, but she wasn't her father and besides, she didn't really want to be further outcasted by yelling at them. They already considered her an outsider, what with the way she had adopted the elvish customs and mannerisms as her own, the way she spoke elvish as a firstborn, or favoured elvish designs. Mentally she had an image of a whole list of "crimes" they considered her guilty of: being made a councillor at such a relatively young age, "acting elvish", being on first-name terms with Aragorn, or perhaps just the way she looked. It was clear she wasn't a native of Gondor or Rohan or any of the surrounding lands - in fact, Lante looked like she might even have a little Haradrim blood in her, but either way she was hard to place. Not that she could help it really - she wasn't too sure of her origins herself, and having been brought up among elves, she had adopted their culture as her own.

She looked up at Nenndil, quite aware that she must have gone into her glazed-eye, away-in-far-off-lands look.

"Sorry. My mind wandered a bit..."

((Don't worry, Ellessar! We all need to be new at some point. ))

Nenndil smiled. "Do not worry." He said, his voice quiet so as not to disturb the others in the hall. "I imagine there are far more interesting places things to dwell on then such repeated tales of orcs and their brutalities." The smile faded as he spoke. "But as for your question, I doubt I am the right one to ask. The last time I stayed for any length of time anywhere was at Lothlorien, a few years ago now. Although I have not seen such planned attacks anywhere but here, orcs have been multiplying where ever I travel, especially in Rohan. I had not been forced to fight for a long time, however." He said with a deep sigh. "I was begining to hope that things had been set right."
