Post A Quenya word for whale, dictionary

I need the word for whale. I would look it up, but I can't right now, as I do not have access to my dictionary right now.

I don't believe that word exists in Quenya at least from my stuff i can't find the word. Maybe you could say great fish which i believe would be alta lingwe. correct me if i'm wrong.

In Parma Eldalamberon 12 you can find: uin, uind- for "whale".

I found my word. The word for whale is panto. Thank you for your help though.

Out of interest, where did you get panto from? It isn't in any of my dictionaries.

Lambengolmo, I tried googling for +panto +Quenya. It turned up a number of (rather anonymous) on-line wordlists including panto, but also a discussion of this word in a forum thread at Aglardh.

The standard ones everyone uses can be downloaded from Helge Fauskanger's site Ardalambion.

In addition to that, you may find it useful to get the expanded wordlist compiled by dirk_math that also includes some neo-Quenya (words coined by students, not Tolkien) and 'old' words from Qenya. It's available for download here .

If you're looking for an online dictionary to look up a word here and there, try the one in the language resources section of this site.
