Tengwar - how do you know if it's Quenya or Sindarin? on: November 10, 2007 07:40
You can write Quenya and Sindarin in tengwar right? I'm confussed because how would you know what language you are reading unless it is specified (that, or you're really good).

"Libenter homines id quod volunt credunt." and "Was die Menschen wünschen, glauben sie im allgemeinen gern."
One of the phrases above is in German and the other one is in Latin. They are both written using the Roman alphabet. See if you can work out which one's which.
Sorry for being so flippant, but I hope you can see that once you know even a little bit about an alphabet and the language in question, it's pretty easy to work out what language is written down.
