Post Sentence structure of requests?
on: August 06, 2014 07:50
How would I write a sentence along the lines of "May I do [x action]?" I know that wishes are formed using the imperative case (like various sentences in the Lord's Prayer), but questions somewhat baffle me. I can't find a word for "allow" or "permit" either, to write "Will you permit me to... ?" Can anyone help?

We have the attested word dâf = permission from which people have reconstructed daf- = to allow, let.

So you could write:
Sevin dâf ...? = Do I have permission... ?
Devin ... ? = May I ... ?
