I always thought they were doing something to Gollum that shouldn’t be seen in a PG-13 movie.
Hence the fact that all you see is busy orcs and Gollum’s hands… frankly, I think it would have been less
horrible if you could see what they were actually doing to him. This way, you get to imagine what it could be.
