Gandalf looks good- except for the fact hes melting of course
It does look like he’s melting doesn’t it? hehehe. Frodo looks a little older…
This is the Frodo I picture when I read the books.
Looks like some water got on the bottom of the page.
(a.k.a. Eowyn22)The bottom looks a little torn….or maybe wet…..
Frodo looks old but i like this picture
Frodo’s hair looks thinner than Gandalf’s!
I very much like this.
Frodo looks so sad. I want to pick him up and hug him.
Frodo looks elf reminicent, but I love Gandalf.
Are we sure that’s Frodo and not perhaps Bilbo?
Um, about Frodo looking old-ish…he was 50 when this occured…and he got the ring when he was 33, so…
…he wouldn’t look as young as in the movies in my opinion..
I love this picture, it’s amazing the amount of depth that he gives to the people
has anyone seen any of Lee’s non-lotr pics? he does ‘Black Ships Before Troy’, (a retelling of ‘The Illiad’),
“The Wanderings of Odyssesus’, ( a retelling of ‘The Odyssey’) and there are other gorgeous pics from Celtic
mythology that I have seen out and about
I really like this rendition of Frodo!
awwww! frodo is rather cute in this one!
and to those of you who seem to have a problem with the bottom of the painting, that’s just Alan Lee’s
style. his work is blended and with muted color – he doesn’t go for bright clear lines and vivid color.
but that’s what is so amazing about his work. he can convey the emotions of the story and the spirit of
Tolkien’s work in a spare, modern, and somewhat unconventional style. the beauty of his work lies in its
simplicity.
so, um…yeah. Go Alan Lee!
At first I thought Gandalf was on fire! Now I see it’s just a fading/blending thing.
I think there is a fireplace on the bottom of this picture and the “melting effect” is caused by smoke or hot
air ascending from the burning coals.
