Images from Ralph Bakshi’s animated “Lord of the Rings” movie
I have to admit, the backgrounds and stuff are pretty cool.
mmm… it was prettier when it was big… but it’s still nice, I like it very much
Why are the calender pix all better art the the real film? Film THAT?
rivendel looks like its going to fall down… way down…
A bit dark for Rivendell…. And why does it remind me of a Chinese pagoda thing? Falling off a cliff….
it looks like a crumbling old haunted house!! not my vision of Rivendell at all.
Sure that’s not Mordor? 😉
You’re right, Tiru, it looks like someone ripped a piece of Chinatown out and stuck it on a mountain.
I like that pic & it also looks like all you said, but it also looks like the Weasleys house from Harry Potter
What happened to the VALLEY?
it has been drastically changed to the complete OPPOSITE of a valley, ie. a mountain?!
Wasn’t rivendell like an ice crystal. This Bakshi sure moves around his locations.
I wonder if Elrond was Japanese…
It looks too complicated and not peaceful enough to be Rivendell. Maybe it’s RivenHell.
Nah, RivenHell is a disco. Imladris Saigon and Elrond is Miss Saigon.
Elrond is Julius Cesar, King(er…Cesar) of RivenHell
I think Bakshi skipped many lines when he read the book…Even the description of the characters and places…
Chinese-Elven dwellings.
Rivendell is supposed to be “glen of the cleft” i.e. In a valley! Not stuck on the side of Mt Everest!
At first glance this looked a lot more like Mordor, and very industralized and smog-gy-like
It’s RivenHELL!!
I like Chineeessse. . . . lol. It’s a song from Monty Python or something. It seemed appropriate. . .
Okaaaaay. a Roman guy in Tokyo.
Tis Rivenhell!! Ruled by the pervert, Julius Cesar!
Actual Bakshi quote: “Make Rivenhell as scary and Chinese as possible. Then put it wobbling on a cliff! Muah!”
I’d never step foot in this monstrous looking building.
This looks more like Lord Yu’s home in Stargate SG-1 then Rivendell. Those who watch the show know what I mean
Is that Chinatown??
Looks like where the Leugue of Shadows hangs out at in “Batman Begins”
is kidna cool…but it looks like a stack of books to me
Chinatown!!! awww,…i see it now 😉
it reminds me of Aunt Josephine’s house in The wide Window
Shinto temple, Shinto temple…
stack of books is pretty accurate- he always has monsters in the rocks too, very cool
Now see this one isn’t too bad. It actually looks kinda cool.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Haunted Chinese stack of books!
I agree with Tiruvantel.
compared to all the others… this one isn’t bad… for Bakshi…
ok,it’s a pretty pic, but it doesn’t seem elf-like to me…but rather as a couple of tree-houses about to fall
