There was no avoiding this, really. His choices were, sneek through the gate and inevitably get caught, or
sneek past Shelob and maybe make it out, or give up entirely.
*takes rind away from frogo* hey gollum over here! *throws ring down and gollum follows going to his death*
And… then… what?
He really thinks there’s no other way to go.
Well, Gollum is right….. what other way is there? They can’t go through the Black Gate; they’ll get caught.
The only way they can go is through a road that no orcs travel through because of the danger — that
Frodo will have to face.
