I think Galadriel was meant to be the mother/virgin/Mary figure in ‘LotR’, if anyone.
Also, I think Sam’s look is of disapproval of the Mirror itself. He’s just learnt that ‘magic’ is not always..
..’good’, or what you want to see, and I think he’s worried for Frodo as well.
This is my favorite image of Galadriel. I think it captures the spirit of the elves. 🙂

Sorry, I don’t like it at all. This could indeed be a religous painting. Galadriel is mother Mary.
I don’t know if Lee intended it, but the simularity is evident. Aside the hobbits, this could be an icon.

Given the fact that Mary was a Hebrew, I’d say Galadriel looks nothing like Mary.
