Elrond:*sniffing* wow, Aragorn, Legolas was right, you really do need a bath. you stink!
Ahh. Meet the Parents. Or Parent.
Shouldn’t this be Arwen’s decision?Not anyone else’s?
i agree elfgirl, but what parent would want to give up their child?
i kno, but still. hes trying to run her life, and what kid wouldn’t rebel(when she goes to aragorn) to that?
he’s not trying to run her life, just trying to convince her to go to Valinor to save her from pain.
yeah, but still. he needs to learn to have faith in her decisions.
if she thinks she would be better off there, he needs to learn to trust her. she is like 3000 years old.
she knows what shes doing
Remember, this was a male dominating world when Tolkien wrote.
screw a male dominating world. I quote “behind every good man is an even better woman. (elf or otherwise) 🙂
Exactly why I liked Arwen’s role in Fellowship! ^_^ And I thought she was just wicked. This part made me sad
though too
this is a rarety with arwen: they’re actually *following* the book. elrond doesn’t want arwen to wed aragorn
until aragorn proves he’s “worthy”.
Yay! Mr. “Eyebrows” Elrond!
He wants his daughter to get married with nothing less than a KING! that’s true love *rolls eyes* lol
I do sort of see what Elrond means: he’s lost his wife and I don’t think he wants to lose his daughter too…
but he’s gonna see his wife again when he goes back to valinor, isn’t he?
and i thought it was wise of him to make arwen wait until aragorn was king. it’s more motivation for aragorn
to claim the throne and do his best
Not to mention it’d be bad for them to get married and then two days later the ranger gets murdered by orcs.
this movie version helped mirror the tale of Luthien and Beren more. besides didn’t elrond lose his parents,
twin brother, his king, and his wife? i don’t blame elrond for wanting to keep arwen!
Aragorn: “But I swear, sir, I wasn’t doing anything to your daughter!”
