Parody of "I'm in a New York State of Mind" by Billy Joel

Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from this Middle-Earth
Hop on a horse to Rivendell or somewhere to the north.
I’m taking Shadowfax and troubles left behind
I’m in a Shire state of mind.

I have seen all the kings with their fancy swords and their cities,
Been in the mysterious forest of Mirkwood, to get out it will take centuries,
I know what I need and I don’t want to waste time
I’m in a Shire state of mind.

It used to be easy to living day by day
Singing with the elves that made me feel gay.
But now I need to be away
Somewhere close to a bay.

It comes down to reality-and it’s fine with me ’cause I’ve let it slide,
I don’t care if it’s the Old Forest or the bridge of Brandywine.
It doesn’t matter, I have put my reasons aside
I’m in a Shire state of mind.

I’m just taking Shadowfax
Cause I’m in a Shire state of mind.
