Parody of "On Top of Old Smokey" by Unknown

On top of Caranthras,
All covered with snow,
We came to an impass,
On which way to go.

“Let’s go ‘neath the mountain,”
Said Boromir, “Please.
This will be the death of
The hobbits, who’ll freeze.”

“Let’s try to go forwards,”
Said Gandalf the Grey,
But wouldn’t tell why he
Feared Moria way.

They stood there and argued,
And then came the storm,
From that meg’lomaniac
Wizard Saruman.

We almost were sunk in
The snow, falling swift,
Except Elf Legolas,
Who’d walk on the drifts.

“Now, where’s the Ringbearer?”
We plucked from the snow
The blue little hobbit,
Ringbearer Frodo.

We crowded ’round Frodo,
And all looked so grim.
“Now you decide for us,”
We all said to him.

“Let’s go ‘neath the mountain,”
The Ringbearer said.
“At least then the snow won’t
Be over my head.”

So under Caranthras
We scurried away,
But that’s the next chapter,
And now no more I’ll say.
