Something Better
(Frodo: standing upon the borders of Hobbiton. He stares down at the Ring unhappily)
Frodo: I look at this ring and I want to cry.
I feel like life is going right by.
And I just can’t help but wonder, is it any use to try?
Am I cursed to wander, is Mount Doom where I shall die?
(He glances up, gazing out in the direction of his homeland.)
But it’s to save the Shire,
I must keep that in mind.
That is why I’m going now,
Leaving all I love behind.
My future is not going where I want to be
But there must be something better, something better
There must be something better to come for me.
Merry: (coming up behind him, and throwing his arm around Frodo’s shoulder) Now you’re talkin’!
Though you wish that Bilbo didn’t find it.
You’ll get this done I know you’ll find a way!
Pippin: (lagging behind) I’m hungry now, I really wouldn’t mind it,
If we stopped and had a meal sometime today.
Frodo: now danger calls my name.
Pippin. (wild look) Oh my gosh, I’ve got to hide!
Frodo: I’ll go alone, don’t come with me.
Sam: No! I’ll be by your side
Merry and Pippin: He’ll be by your side!
Frodo: There’s gotta be something better then this
*Sam, Merry, Pippin, echo* ‘Something more then this!
Without the Ring how good life would be!
Echo: Would be!
How I hope I do this task right, and set all peoples free!
Echo: Free!
Altogether: There will be something better, something better,
there must be something better then this for me.
Something so much better than this for you and me!
(The journey begins)
