I saw Fellowship of the Ring in theaters at age 5. I continued to see the films in theaters as I grew up. I read The Hobbit at about age 8 and read LotR at about 11. I've yet to read Silmarillion, but I've read large chunks of The Book of Lost Tales and The Unfinished Tales.
