I noticed that in some of the other sequence analyses (plural) there was some information as to certain lines that were borrowed from the book into the movie. Although there is nothing of this sort in the Sequence Analysis for “The King of the Golden Hall,” I would like to suggest a borrowed line that was in the book’s chapter “The King of the Golden Hall.” When Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli approach the gates of Edoras, and they speak with one of guards, the guard states, “…He is one of the Mearas, unless our eyes are cheated by some spell.” However, in the movie, during the scene “The White Rider” Legolas uses this line as the 4 of them stand watching Shadowfax approach, and he says, “That is one of the Mearas, unless my eyes are cheated by some spell.” I thought it was an interesting way the movie borrowed a line from the book, and had a very different character use it. I would love to hear feedback!
