Ingredients

8 oz of plain flour
1/2 tsp of salt
2 tsp of baking powder
2 1/2 oz butter
2 1/2 oz sugar
4 oz dried fruit/sultanas
1 egg
2 tbsp milk

Instructions

Sieve flour, salt and baking power together in a large bowl. Rub butter into the flour until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in sugar, dried fruit, and nutmeg.

Beat the egg with milk and add to the flour mixture. Mix well with a fork. The mixture should be stiff, but not too sticky. Use a little more milk if desired.

Divide the mixture into 12 and place on a greased baking tray; rough up with a fork. Bake in a moderately hot oven. (Faramir requested to the cooks of Gondor that the oven be put on gas mark 6, or 400F ).

Cool on a wire tray.
