1/2 cup softened butter
1/3 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour

Instructions

Dissolve yeast in warm water.

Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it bubbles, remove from heat. Mix in butter, sugar and salt. Let cool until lukewarm.

In a large bowl combine yeast and milk mixtures. Stir in one egg. Add flour one cup at a time.

Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 8 minutes. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with damp cloth. Place in warm spot and let rise for one hour.

Punch down dough; divide in half. Place dough into oiled and floured bread pans. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.

Brush dough with beaten egg. Bake until golden brown.

Serve with honey butter for a real Elven treat! Mix or whip softened butter or margarine with honey; serve fresh over bread warm from the oven.
