Born of Elrond Peredhil and Lady Celebrian,I am the third child in my family.Arwen Undomiel is my younger sister and the twins are my elder brothers.When I was about 2,000 years of age,I left Imladris,much to the sorrow of my parents,and settled in Eryn Lasgalen,or Mirkwood as it was known back then.I had moved there for several reasons,among them my desire to live independently of my parents’ influence.When Aragorn was brought to the keeping of my father(my mother had since left Middle-Earth),I went and dwelt in Imladris for a while to help my father care for him.I developed a sisterly attachment to him and when he assumed his role as chief of the Dunedain I often accompanied him on his journeys.Then,when I was about 2,027 years old,I returned to Mirkwood with him and there met Legolas Greenleaf.We hit it off right from the start and our relationship extended to more than just friends.We kept our relationship secret for fear of both the Elvenking and my father.Aragorn was the only one who knew of our relationship and he shared the secret.In return,we hid the fact of the relationship of Aragorn and Arwen and so it continues to this day.
