Personality: Belecthor is a rather private man. He rarely talks about his personal life, but that seems to change when he has the chance to talk of his son. He seems very proud of his young son and places a lot of importance on his family. Though he keeps his personal life to himself, he doesn’t isolate himself from anyone. He’s rather talkative, funny, and pleasant. He’s often very agreeable and patient, but still trusts his instincts over reason. Though he tends to always have a smile on his face, he knows when its time to get serious. He has a tendency to pity those that do not deserve it and is extremely forgiving. He’s an experienced swordsman and warrior. He’s also a very good cook.

Appearance: Belecthor is tall and muscular with dark brown hair and a thin beard and mustache. His hair just touches his broad shoulders. Belecthor has dark brown, expressive eyes and a light skin tone. He wears the typical Gondorian silver armor with a long black cape. When he decides to go on the quest, his appearance changes from silver, metal armor and a black cape to brown, leather armor and a green cloak. He has brown boots that reach half-way up his lower legs.

History:

Belecthor has always lived in Minas Tirith. When he was young, his mother died from a natural disease. He was an only child so growing up was just his father and himself. His father was a simple blacksmith, but Belecthor proved himself a superb swordsman. Therefore, his father had him trained to be a member of the guard. His father lived a long life, but finally died in the siege of Minas Tirith.

Belecthor fell in love with a young woman, Idria, when he was 25 years old. Idria was the daughter of Belecthor’s captain. Idria’s father didn’t approve of Belecthor and kept them apart for a long time. However, he finally relented by the sheer passion his daughter spoke of when she discussed her love for Belecthor—and the speech from his wife. Belecthor married Idria when he was 28. Idria gave birth to their first son two years later, the year of the War of the Ring.

Belecthor fought in the War of the Ring both at the siege of Minas Tirith and the battle of Morannon with King Elessar. He felt the terror when they passed into the dying lands but only for his newborn son that he feared would never know his father. When Aragorn spoke, he was relieved to hear he would be able to leave and head back to Minas Tirith and his family. He followed the rest of the group to Cair Andros to retake it, only to find it abandoned by the enemy. He has lived with the guilt of leaving his Lord in his time of need for four long years. He still feels the need to alleviate his guilt by serving his Lord as best he can, no longer fearing if his son will grow up without his father. He considers it more important that his son be proud of his father, which he attempts now to prove.
