Celussë (MÃrenaer)
Celussë (Quenya, meaning: water flowing swiftly from a rocky spring) awoke with others of the Firstborn at Cuiviénen, close to a rocky spring from wich water flowed swiftly into the bay. Long he dwelt there with the other Quendi often singing with them.
After Oromë found them and Ingwë, Finwë and Elwë had returned from Valinor and told their people from the light of the Trees and the beauty of the Land of the Valar, Celussë was willing to embark on the long journey westward along with most of his Telerin kin, being a close friend of Olwë, Elwë’s brother.
When last of the Eldar the host of the Teleri reached Beleriand, Celussë never wandered west past the River Gelion.
Long he and Olwë searched for Elwë, even after the Vanyar and the Noldor had departed, but in the end they gave up hope and continued their journey that again was stayed in the Bay of Eldamar.
Long now did he dwell with the others on Tol Eressëa, but often his heart pulled him to the island’s western shores from where he could see the light of the Trees. As much as he loved the sight of the stars beneath which he awoke, his heart longed more and more to finally reach Valinor, behold the beauty of the trees and after all these long years meet again his friends among the Noldor. So he was among the first of the Teleri to set foot on the shores of Aman.
Very long now he lived happily at Alqualondë, sailing the sea, singing at it’s shores and bathing in it’s waters. Often he spent long times traveling through Valinor, taking in it’s breathtaking splendour, but always he was happy to return to the shores of Eldamar and the soft light of the stars that shone bright and clear in Alqualondë. And he stayed his journeys completely when Olwë’s child was born, a beautiful daughter named Eärwen, to whom he was appointed guardian right after her birth. Happy he was to see her grow to a slender, good-natured maiden, and she was like a child to him. When she married Finarfin of the Noldor, he left Alqualondë and went with her to Tirion, where he lives today.
