Gender: 2
Race: Rohirrim/Dúnedain
Height: 5’3”
Age: 21 yrs
Family: No direct family living, only child
Animals: Horse- Manadhon; Wolf- Tinnôl
Weapons: A sword, Gurenôl (dreams of the heart), a hunting knife, and a bow with a quiver full of arrows

Personality: Déorwine has learned to be very self-reliant. She keeps mostly to herself. Even with strong friendships, Déorwine doesn’t often go back to her village in the Eastfold of Rohan where she was raised in the later years of her childhood. She welcomes her close friends when they come to visit her, but mostly she likes her solitude. She is extremely independent and believes she doesn’t need to depend on anyone else. She can also be extremely stubborn and “too serious.” She can teach herself to do many things, which makes her extremely resourceful. She has a keen interest in Elves and has tried to teach herself some Elvish (mostly Sindarin), but due to the fading presence of Elves, this has proven difficult for her. Déorwine is almost too self-reliant. She has managed to cut herself off from other people, leaving her mostly a rather socially awkward person. Her stubborn and independent nature can (and has) landed her in trouble, as she doesn’t accept help when she truly needs it. Her ability to teach herself is always slow and clumsy, often taking her months, even years, to master a skill depending on its complexity. She still seems to have more success with this than the average person. She seems to enjoy the company of animals over that of people, the only exception being her cousin Léoflic. In her childhood, she did wear dresses and kept her hair long. She complained about them often. Usually ending up tearing her dresses and getting her long hair tangled in burs and sticks. So she began to despise long hair and dresses. She vowed to never wear one purposefully; and therefore, she cut her hair and wore pants while she was living outside in the wild. And it only seemed to further detach her from society.

Appearance: Déorwine has dark, straight hair. When she was younger, it was kept long but now she cuts it short to keep it out of her way. It reaches just to her shoulders; about the length most men keep it. If not for her feminine body, she could probably pass for a man easily. She is rather short, small, and thin. She doesn’t appear to be overly muscular but she is strong, though she worked long and hard to gain her strength. Her appearance can be deceiving in this way. She also has two expressive and different colored eyes: her left is baby blue like her mother’s and her right is grey like her father’s. They present an interesting contradiction and keep many people fixated on her eyes. Her skin is slightly tanned from spending so much time outdoors, but she is a rather pale person. Déorwine is never seen wearing a dress, instead choosing pants and a tunic with an undershirt. She also carries a dark-green hooded cloak around with her that she wears often.

History:

Her father, Halabarad, was a Dúnedain ranger and the son of the chief who had acted as “steward” of the Dúnedain when Arathorn II died and Gilraen took Aragorn to Imladris. Halabarad traveled with Aragorn II (Thorongil) to Rohan in 2957. There he met Léoma, a simple Rohan farm girl, and fell in love with her. But he was young and naive, so he dismissed his feelings and left her. She eventually married and had children. Halabarad comes to terms with his feelings and travels south to confess his feelings to Léoma. However, Léoma died young and he wasn’t given the chance. Halabarad encounters her youngest daughter, Felaléof, and sees much of Léoma in her and more. He marries Felaléof but cannot stay with her. He leaves and heads back north in hopes that he might be able to come back soon. He is unable to leave due to the increased guard on the Shire requested by Gandalf and increasing dangers of travel during those dark times. Felaléof gives birth to a daughter early January 3001 and names her Rhîwiel, daughter of winter.

Felaléof begins to venture outside for long periods of time, waiting for her beloved Halabarad’s return. Felaléof had almost always brought Rhîwiel with her on these outings. Rhîwiel begins to love these outings that she and her mother go on, never wanting to return to her home. Rhîwiel began to show a great interest in wild animals. She managed to befriend them, care for them, and become accepted by them. However, Rhîwiel became sick during the late fall of 3008 and wasn’t able to accompany her mother on her outings for about a week. During this week, Felaléof went out and died in an orc raid. Scýne, a sister of Felaléof, brought Rhîwiel to the Eastfold when she was well again within the next few days. She was raised there along with her uncle’s large family, for no one knew her father.

Instead of blossoming in the large family setting, she tended to isolate herself. She felt a bit out of place and fell through the cracks. She loved still spending long hours outside like her mother had. She continued to befriend wild animals and it eventually earned her the nickname, Déorwine, by her cousin, Léoflic, who she got along best with out of her many cousins. Though their friendship formed months after she had came to live with them in the Eastfold, it grew very quickly. Very few people know of her given name, Rhîwiel, for she doesn’t use it or answer to it. As she grew older, she spent more and more time outside of her home, despite the warnings of her aunt about her mother’s death. Léoflic often spent time with her in the wild. He often would teach her swordplay that he was learning from his father and elder brother and she would teach him horsemanship. She wished to be able to protect those she loved, so she wouldn’t have to suffer the loss of a loved one again.

During the War of the Ring, she was eighteen and still young. She watched from her distant village in the Eastfold of Rohan. In horror, she watched her eldest cousin, Beorn, and Léoflic ride off to war. During the time they were away, she rarely entered the house, even well after dark. Halabarad was never able to find Felaléof when he returned that March with the Grey Company. He knew only of her home in the Westfold, and did not expect to find a child. Halabarad gave up hope of ever seeing his love again, and went to the Paths of the Dead and the Fields of Pelennor without hope. Halabarad died in the battle on Pelennor Fields, and Déorwine officially became an orphan. Seeing the hurts of those around her only made her more determined to learn swordplay and archery. Eventually, she got quite good at it. By May 15th, Léoflic returned after injury in Pelennor Fields and delivered the ill news of Beorn’s death. She spent sometime with her cousin, trying to heal his emotional wounds. But it became clear to him that she wished to leave, and gave her leave to do so when she felt she drawn. She tried her hardest to stay by her dear cousin’s side in his time of need, but by mid-year’s day, Déorwine left her home in the Eastfold for good.

It didn’t take her long to start to form long friendships with some of the wild animals that inhabit the Eastfold. She found a young draft stallion who she named, Manadhon, meaning destiny or bliss. She also found a wolf with her pup. She named the mother, Morpýd, black paws, and the pup, Tinnôl, dream of twilight. The mother died protecting Déorwine from a pack of hungry wolves one winter but the pup still travels with Déorwine.
