Personality: Devin is a very gentle and hard working man. He is fascinated with farming and is always busy to try and make the farm work better. For example: he invented a way to irrigate the fields and crops with water from the long lake during a very dry summer.
Devin is the kind of guy everybody likes and he is very protective towards his aunt and cousin, afraid something would happen to them.
Devin is a humorous person and he is very good in practical jokes, his eyes are always twinkling with pleasure when he comes up with a new naughty idea to joke someone. But when season after season the crops die, he is beginning to lose his laughter. He gets more sad every day because he cannot find a solution to the problems.
The one person Devin totally relies on is Thearl together they can talk about things that bother them and they have the same view on life. They fight together side by side and will never betray each other. Though there is something that Thearl doesn’t know about Devin and Devin wouldn’t dare to tell him. Devin has fallen in love with Rethe, Thearl's youger sister, from the day he met her, he only never had the guts to tell anyone.
He is very naive, he doesn't see when anyone is flirting with him; he is very unexperienced with women and so very uncomfortable with their presence.
Devin still struggles with his past, he blames himself for the fire; feels like he brings shadow and misery with him everywhere he goes. He often has nightmares of the fire that killed his father and burned down the range.
Appearance: Devin has shoulder-length, curly, dark brown hair and deep also dark brown eyes. He is very handsome and looks slightly dangerous and rough because of his unshaven beard and tanned skin. He has big hands and he is very tall and broad and muscular, which is very helpful in the heavy work on the farm.
History:
Devin was born in Rohan where is father owned a range, he was supposed to take over the range, but when he was fifteen-years-old and was out for hunting, orcs came and burned down the range. His father was sleeping at that moment and went down with the house. Except his father he only had two relatives living in Esgaroth. So he decided to travel north, because all the horses were dead except for the one he was riding. There was no future for him in Rohan.
He rode to Esgaroth in two days, totally ruining his horse, but he had to see someone he knew. He had loved his father very much and was devastated by all that happened. When he reached the long lake, his horse was nearly dead out of exhaustion. But Devin didn’t want to lose another one he loved took care of him and if a miracle came… the horse survived.
His aunt and cousin were very happy to see him and since then he has lived on their farm. Devin liked farming and spent all his days improving the structure of the farm. Very soon he became very good friends with Thearl, the son of the Mayor of Esgaroth.
