Personality: Díore is very stubborn but obedient to her parents. She is green in the ways of battle, but for her age, Díore is wise and a good leader. She tends to look down on those who are too conceited, but is not that way herself. Preferring solitude to being with people, she stays out of things and would never be found to be the center of attention. Díore has a sharp wit and the mind to go with it. Slow to anger and just as slow to forgive, Díore can hold a grudge against a person for a long time. At the same time, she can be compassionate and kind toward those who are suffering.

Appearance: Díore is of average height for a woman of Rohan. Her face is delicately structured, with the rest of her body being relatively slender. She has deep-brown hair and emerald-green eyes. Díore is slightly built because of the years of arms training she has had with her father and others of her age. Her garb is usually a tunic and breeches, often of homespun fabric, with a sword belt attached around her waist and a woodland green cloak around her shoulders. Most times she wears her hair either plaited or down. Díore’s skin is tanned from being outside during the spring, summer, and autumn.

History:

Born in Edoras to a Rohirric captain, Hasulfen, and a noblewoman of Dol Amroth, Awyndel, Díore has lived the typical life of a young woman. She was on the back of a horse before she could walk, and now riding comes second nature to her. When she was very young, she roughed around with the local village boys and learned to do different household chores. Her father taught her the basics of weapons as well as hand-to-hand fighting. Many long hard hours were devoted to this training, and as a result, Díore is capable of wielding most types of weapons. Because Awyndel never bore him a son, Hasulfen doted upon his daughter as if she were a boy. He told her about the different types of enemies, different strategies, and the history of Middle-Earth as from his point of view. He let her get into her own brawls and learn the lessons from them.
Hasulfen and Awyndel were strict with Díore, but they let her experience things for herself. They knew of her aspirations to be a shieldmaiden and supported her all the way. They had talked of a marriage for her, but Díore flatly refused, saying that a man would only get in the way of her future as a female warrior.
One of her closest friends is the man Alardin, a Rider and secretly her admirer, though she doesn’t know it. He is a year older than her, and the pair has been close since they were young. Alardin has seen battle and tells Díore of it all, the good and the bad. He doesn’t disapprove of her leaving for Ithilien, though in his heart he doesn’t want her to leave. Díore often refers to Alardin for advice in lieu of her father, for he also is wise for his age, and he helps her as much as he can. It is his wish that eventually Díore’s heart will change, and she will have feelings for him also.
