Gender: 2
Race: Hobbit
Height: 4 feet
Age: 39 (Hobbit years!)
Family: parents live in Hobbiton, aunt in Archet
Animals: a pig named Mud
Weapons: a sword he found...somewhere (he can't quite remember) that he keeps between his mattresses at home and has likely forgotten about completely

Personality: Duffy is quite friendly and will talk to just about anyone. He tends to ramble when he speaks, though, and often exaspirates the person he is talking to with his long, drawn-out explanations. He is eager to make friends, and enjoys hearing stories from other parts of the Shire, as he does not get to travel much. Duffy is very curious, and would like to see more of Middle-earth (although he has never left home), but he is easily frightened by most of the things one would encounter in the world (including, but not limited to: deep and/or running bodies of water, wolves, snakes, eagles, heights, storms, large animals, Orcs, Trolls, spiders, dragons, boats, and most Big Folk). He has heard quite a bit about some of these things, as he likes to read, especially books about the Elves (although he would likely be quite intimidated should he ever encounter one). He is surprisingly good at solving puzzles, and has an odd talent for picking locks. Duffy has short term memory problems- a source of endless frustration to him. He often locks himself out of his home, misplaces things, loses his reminder notes, and forgets peoples' names. He has a tendency to drift off into his own world when being spoken to, and sometimes needs to be reminded of what it is that he is trying to get accomplished before an accident jolts him back to the present. He isn't stupid, and he's actually very observant if you were to really watch the way he thinks, but his absentminded ways often mislead people into thinking he is less intelligent than other Hobbits. Duffy is incredibly clumsy and trips over his own feet several times a day. He also has a problem with falling down wells and into holes and ditches. He loves singing and dancing, but is not particularly good at either, as clumsy people don't dance very well. He is useless at sports, and doesn't even bother trying to ride anymore. Despite his shortcomings, Duffy is a very loyal and good friend and might actually be useful in a dangerous situation if he were allowed sufficient time to compose himself beforehand. If you really want to know, he's the incarnation of my spacy side, but I don't think I'm nearly as bad as this. ;)

Appearance: Duffy is short, with messy brown hair- a pretty average Hobbit. He has brown eyes and is usually wearing his favorite green shirt. He has a habit of wrinkling his eyebrows when he's confused or has lost something, which happens a lot. He is a little on the plump side, but not fat. He has a dimple on his left cheek and a little birthmark on his right one, so they even each other out somewhat. He could be considered good-looking by some, but rarely has any suitors- his peculiar mannerisms drive them away fairly quickly.

History:

Duffy hasn’t really done much. He was born and raised in Hobbiton, and he lives in a small house near the north end of town with his pet pig, Mud. He doesn’t have any siblings, but was very close to his cousins growing up. They moved to Sackville when Duffy was in his tweens, and he still visits them to this day.

Duffy works at the candlemaker’s shop, where he stocks the shelves and occcasionally handles the coins. He isn’t allowed to actually make the candles or do anything that might be dangerous as he has a history of dropping things or setting them on fire. He loves his work, but has yet to find something that he truly excells at.

Duffy thought he saw a tree moving when he was very small, and ever since then he would rather face certain death than go near the Old Forest. He wandered around more as a tween than he does now (he got tired of getting lost), but he still likes to take walks (as long as its daytime and the sun is out and there aren’t any strange things about). This also explains his oddly supersticious attitude towards nature: he does everything possible to keep it clean, and he is postive that it’s watching him.
