Gender: 2
Race: Half-elf
Height: 6' 1
Age: 3000 (ish)
Family: Father - Elrond, Mother - Celebrían, Twin - Elrohir, Sister - Arwen, Grandparents in ME - Celeborn
Animals: None
Weapons: Bow, sword (that he made himself)

Personality: As his name suggests, Elladan is first and foremost a student of lore and craft, never happier than when studying in the libraries of Imladris. However, he is also skilled at smithcraft, and in the use of the bow and sword. He is often slightly impatient, especially when disturbed from his studies, and occasionally he could be seen as arrogant. He has a very heightened awareness of Imladris and its inhabitants place in history, and is expected to take over the stewardship of the valley when Elrond departs over the Sea. While in some ways he can't wait until Imladris is truly his, the idea also concerns him, as he knows full well that no-one could easily succeed his father. Celebrían's departure affected him deeply, and still he tries to distance himself from those around him, not wanting to let anyone in too close to him.

Appearance: Elladan is tall and slim, with black hair usually swept back away from his face. He has misty grey eyes, framed by long eyelashes.

History:

Elladan was born in TA 130 to Elrond and Celebrian in Imladris, coming into the world only slightly before his twin brother Elrohir.

Over two thousand years later their beloved mother, Celebrian was traveling to visit her own parents, she was captured, tortured and assaulted by a band of orcs in the Redhorn Pass. Elladan rode with his brother to rescue her, but by the time they reached her she had received a poisonous wound. Though their father healed her, she would not remain in Middle-earth, and sailed into the West the following year. After this loss, Elladan and his brother Elrohir were filled with hatred of the orcs, often riding against them with the Northern Dúnedain and the Rohirrim.

“But in the forefront of the charge they saw two great horsemen, clad in grey, unlike all the others, and the Orcs fled before them; but when the battle was won they could not be found, and none knew whence they came or whither they went. But in Rivendell it was recorded that these were the sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir.” Peoples of Middle-Earth, The Making of Appendix A.

Towards the end of the second millennium of the Third Age, Elladan and Elrohir rode often with Arathorn, and they were there when Aragorn’s father died. They then taught the young Aragorn about hunting orcs and other wilderness skills. The three of them did great deeds before returning eventually to Rivendell.

In the early part of the War of the Ring, the brothers’ main role was to scout the land and prepare the way for the Fellowship, but later they took a more active role. When Halbarad rode to Aragorn’s aid with the Grey Company, Elladan and Elrohir accompanied them. They followed Aragorn through the Paths of the Dead, fought with him at Pelargir, and took part in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, where they fought with stars bound to their brows.

After the War of the Ring, he returned to Imladris, working closely with Elrond to heal as many wounds of the lands as possible, and after Elrond sailed, he was left as nominally “in charge” of Imladris.
